Melissa Whitmer's Obituary
Melissa Whitmer, 67, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025. Born in Houston on January 21, 1958, to Blanche and Ray Whitmer, Melissa spent her life surrounded by family, creativity, and love.
As a child, Melissa was an avid Highland dancer and deeply dedicated to her education. Her love for learning and creativity followed her throughout life — whether she was crafting a beautiful wreath, sewing a cozy blanket for her children or grandchildren, or experimenting in the kitchen.
Her passion for scratch-made food was one of her greatest gifts to others. Melissa found joy in comforting people with her cooking and passing down her knowledge and recipes to her children. Her cakes, made with care for special occasions, will be remembered by many as symbols of her love and generosity.
Melissa adored Hallmark movies and always cherished the spirit of the holiday season. It brings comfort to her family to know she chose this time to celebrate with God during her favorite time of year.
She will be forever remembered for her beautiful smile, contagious laugh, and the warmth she brought into every room.
Melissa is survived by her children — Bradley Jochen, Rachel Jochen, Samuel Aceituno, Louis Aceituno, and Kristina Aceituno; her sister, Kathy Whitmer; her 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She will be missed deeply and remembered always with love.
A service to celebrate Melissa’s life will be held on November 19, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Joseph J. Earthman Generations, 234 Westcott St, Houston, TX 77007
