My late husband Ivan Capella who passed away May 16, 2025 and I met Elvia and Steve in Bogota Colombia where Ivan was working for Texaco and Steve for Exxon. We became friends, played bridge, shared family activities and attended the Catholic American chaplaincy. They were transferred to the U.S. and one year later so were we and they told us to live in Trumbull CT where they lived. We moved there in 1980 and sadly they were transferred out 1-1/2 yrs later, but we stayed there until a few years ago when we downsized to the town adjacent to Trumbull. We have been good friends/like family all these years vacationing and visiting each other and our families. We loved Elvia and before he died, Ivan spoke to her on phone and I was able to talk to her personally by phone a few weeks ago. I told her I loved her and thanked God for putting her and Steve in our lives. When we met in Bogota we discovered that we both had studied at the same outstanding Catholic girls high school in Manhattan, Cathedral HS, and graduated from St.Patrick’s Cathedral a few years apart. The Lord’s plan for us gave us a lifetime of joy. Rest in God’s peace, beautiful Elvia.
