Susan Sacra McConn's Obituary
Susan “Susie” Sacra McConn was born on December 26,1961 at Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas. Susie passed away to be with our Lord on May 19, 2026. Over the last two years she put up a long and hard fought battle with cancer. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to so many people, and will be dearly missed.
Susie attended Corpus Christi Catholic School during her elementary education and went on to graduate from high school at St Agnes Academy. Following St. Agnes, Susie enrolled at Texas A&M University and eventually returned to Houston and finished her BA degree at the University of St. Thomas. Susie took her education degree and became an elementary school teacher at Westwood Elementary in the Spring Branch School District. She loved working with early stage students and students with learning disabilities.
In April of 1988 she married her loving husband of 38 years, Mark D. McConn, Sr. Her pride and joy were her 3 wonderful children. In April of 1992 she gave birth to the 1st of 3 children, Mark "Daniel" McConn, Jr., not long after she gave birth to Margaret Janet and Matthew Joseph McConn. Motherhood was now a full time job and a job she wanted. She ended her teaching career to focus on her children. And what a mom she was! She was actively involved in the kids' lives and schools while they were growing up, as a Cub Scouts leader and Girl Scouts leader. Susie was also involved the kids' baseball, football, soccer, softball, and art classes. When called upon, she was always there to help with school functions, auctions, fundraisers, along with working in the Junior League kitchen. Susie was friends to all those who knew her!
Susie grew up the only daughter in a 3 son all-sports family. Her brother, Ralph, and her father, Joe, both played football at Texas A&M, and at a young age Susie watched her brother play in home games which turned her into the Aggies biggest fan. Her favorite thing in life was watching our children play their sports. Daniel and Matt’s baseball and Meg's softball games and following the MLB, NFL, teams, and especially her beloved Aggies and Astros!
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Janet Sacra. She is survived by her husband, Mark; her children, Daniel, Margaret, Matthew; and brothers, Ralph Sacra, Jerry Sacra, Mark and Melissa Sacra; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of the Resurrection honoring the life of Susie will be celebrated at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Notthingham Oaks Trail in Houston, Texas on Wednesday, June 17th at 10:30 in the morning with Rev. Clark Sample officiating.
