Sr. Florina De Maria Medina's Obituary
Manuela Piedad Medina Chavez was born in San Jose Chalmita, Mexico. Her Parents were Aurelio Medina and Antonia Chavez. She entered the Congregation of the Missionary Carmelites of Teresa on September 29, 1956, at the age of 25. She began her Postulancy on January 5th, 1957. She started her novitiate on July 8, 1957, in Mexico City. In the Novitiate, she received her new name as Sr. Florina de Maria.
Sr. Florina made her first profession of vows on July 10, 1959, in Mexico City. She started her service in Mexico City and made her Definitive Consecration on July 10, 1964, in Mexico City.
She celebrated her 25th anniversary on June 10, 1984, in Houston, Texas, and her 50th anniversary on June 28, 2009, in Houston, Texas. For more than 66 years, Sr. Florina gave her life to serving God and the Church.
Sr. Florina passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the age of 93 years.

A viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. at Missionary Carmelites of St. Teresa, 9548 Deer Trail Dr., Houston, Texas 77038. The Rite of Committal will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Resthaven, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, Texas.
