Sarah "Sally" Davey's Obituary
Sarah “Sally” Davey passed away peacefully in Houston on December 16, 2025, at the age of 98. She was born on October 2, 1927, in Chicago. She was a devout, devoted, thoughtful, caring, and fun daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who always inspired her children to “do the right thing”.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ted, who passed away in 2017 after over 57 years of marriage. She is survived by children Laura, Tom (Cynthia), Liz, and Paul (Channing). In addition, he is survived by eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and five siblings.
Sally attended St. Mary’s College (South Bend, Indiana). Prior to meeting Ted, she had a career in Chicago, notably with the NCAA.
Sally and Ted moved their young family to Houston in 1967. Houston soon became their forever home that they embraced and enjoyed together for over 50 years. She was active in numerous charitable organizations, most notably Catholic organizations including long service at St. Michael the Archangel Church. Sally and Ted had an affection for adventure, starting with their 1959 honeymoon around Mexico, which was considered exotic at that time as the country and its travel networks were modestly developed at that time. They introduced their children to new cultures and places at young ages. Excursions took them throughout Mexico, Europe, and the Caribbean, including a 70’s holiday to Martinique on a true “puddle-jumper” set of flights.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will have been given followed by a private burial service at Glenwood Cemetery.
