Nadine (Enedina) Mary Dilts' Obituary
On May 27, 2026, Nadine (Enedina) Mary Dilts completed her life journey. Even though she was mostly known as Nadine, the spirit and implied meaning of Enedina, destined journeys, fully described her life. Her destined journey was to walk in the light, love, and grace of God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and Mary, and to teach and love her family in that same light, love, and grace.
Her journey began in Gering, Nebraska, on May 14, 1933. When she was old enough, she worked in the sugar beet and bean fields in the Scottsbluff and Gering area, but soon found herself drawn to helping others. As a teenager, she began working as a Candy Stripper at St. Mary’s Hospital in Scottsbluff and discovered that her calling was to be of service. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1952.
Nadine married Clayton Dilts on September 4, 1954, at Our Lady of Guadalupe and instantly took on the role of a supportive military wife. She raised two children, Stacie and Rodney. After living in Utah, Wyoming, the Philippines, California, Maine, and New York as a military wife, Nadine and Clay (retired from the A.F.) returned to Scottsbluff.
She became an employee of the Scottsbluff school system, where she worked as a home visitor and truant officer during the school year and a home visitor, working with migrant families during the summers. The family moved to Kansas, where she continued working with children with special needs, and upon returning to Scottsbluff, she became a paraprofessional, working with middle school resource students and serving as an active member of the community. She was a devout member of St. Agnes parish in Scottsbluff and celebrated her faith with family and friends.
Her focus upon moving to Texas with her daughter and son-in-law, Stacie and Scott, in 2014 was to be of service to her family. Her prayer life became stronger, and she lived the last years of her life cherishing visits and calls and praying constantly for family members.
She took her final step on her journey surrounded by light, love, and grace after a short battle with cancer. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: daughter Stacie (Scott) and their family Jacob (Kristine); Sarah (Nate)-Madison (Ben), Clayton, Michael, Alexander, Augustine, and Steven; son Rodney (Brenda) and their family Jennifer (Severino)-Elijah, Xzavier, Myah, and Kyrie; Angelleda (Alex), Evelyn, Eleanor, and Ellis; Justis (Ashley)-Collins; Dylan, and her sister Terri (Mike). She is preceded in death by her parents, August and Juanita Garcia, brothers Danny and Richard, and sisters Delores and MaryAnn.
A viewing and rosary will be held at Joseph Earthman Generation Funeral Home, 234 Westcott St., Houston, Texas, on June 2 from 4-8 pm. Her Celebration of Life Mass will be held at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, 26777 Glen Loch Dr., The Woodlands, Texas, on June 4 at 10 am. A community rosary and remembrance will start at 9:30 am before the mass.
The funeral will be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/ssjwoodlands
