Sister Matilda Ortiz's Obituary
Sister Matilda Ortiz was born in Coatepec Harinas, México. Her Parents were Everardo Ortiz and Maria Flores. She entered the Congregation of the Missionary Carmelites of Teresa on August 22, 1952, at the age of 22 years. She began her Postulancy on September 5th, 1952. She started her novitiate on March 8, 1953, in Mexico City. In the Novitiate, she received her new name as Sr. Matilde de Jesus Crucificado.
Sr. Matilde made her first profession of vows on March 10, 1955, in Mexico City. She started her service in Mexico City and made her Definitive Consecration on March 10, 1960, in Mexico City. Sr. Matilde gave her life to the service of God and the Church for more than 70 years.
Sr. Matilde passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the age of 95years.

A viewing and visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Missionary Carmelites of St. Teresa, 9548 Deer Trail Dr., Houston, Texas 77038. The Rite of Committal will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Resthaven, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, Texas.
