Margaret M. Daro Gatti's Obituary
Margaret Daro Gatti, 112, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026 surrounded by family. Up until the end Margaret maintained her grace, kindness and love for family and friends. She expressed gratitude for her long life full of wonderful memories.
Margaret was born on December 19, 1913, in League City Texas. She was the oldest child born to Giuseppe and Maria Daro. Her parents came over by boat from Cercenasco, Italy and arrived in League City, Texas in 1904. They farmed the land and sold their produce to Galveston and Houston farmers markets. She attended school until the third grade and then worked alongside her parents and siblings on the family farm. She married Italian- born Louis Victor Gatti in 1933. The couple resided in Houston, Texas to raise their two daughters. Upon the unexpected death of her husband in 1951, Margaret continued owning, managing and maintaining various real estate properties. With only a third-grade education she was a savvy, successful businesswomen.
Margaret was a wonderful cook and loved having family over for Sunday dinners. She treasured her friends and would host fancy dinner parties at her house and would enjoy nights out ballroom dancing. Being outdoors gardening and tending to her rose bushes was one of her favorite past times. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting her extended family in Italy.
She was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Victor Gatti; parents, Giuseppe and Maria Daro; her two daughters, Catherine Gatti Palazzo and Betty Gatti LeMoine; her brother, John B. Daro; sister, Lucy Daro Niccolai; and her son in law, Tony Palazzo.
She is survived by Larry LeMoine (husband to Betty LeMoine ), and her six grandchildren: Brian Palazzo, Steven Palazzo, Megan LeMoine Aaron (Cole), Lauren LeMoine Morgan (Ryan), Brooke LeMoine Ramsey (Kyle), Travis LeMoine (Andrea); four great-grandchildren: Anthony Palazzo, Dylan White (Juliana) , Caden Bodle and Liam Aaron; one great-great-grandchild: Jace Everette White; and six beloved nieces.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Bascos Arce Care Home and Golden Evercare Care Home for their kindness and wonderful care.
Her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be forever missed.
A visitation with the family will begin at 9:00 a.m., with a Rosary at 9:45 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10330 Hillcroft Avenue in Houston, Texas.
The Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Lawndale cemetery in Houston, Texas.
