Larry Myers' Obituary
Larry Myers was born on June 8, 1955, in Denver, Colorado, and died March 18, 2022, in Houston, Texas after battling cancer.
Larry enjoyed teaching. He caught the soccer bug while at the University of Texas and volunteered as a youth soccer coach for each of his children’s teams when they were young. He later transitioned to a role as a steadfast fan, spending countless weekends and holidays on soccer fields across Texas.
Larry’s Catholic faith was incredibly important to him, and he was an active member at Our Lady of Walsingham and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parishes, teaching religious education classes, and serving as a chaperone for youth church camps and as a lector.
He was also passionate about classical music, amassing vast knowledge about composers and conductors and large record and CD collection. He spent many contented hours flipping through the stacks at Half Price Books and record shops he visited while traveling or visiting his children. His love of music was the basis of lifelong friendships.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Sally and Ed Myers, and son, Evan. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Harrison of Plano; daughter, Joy and her fiancé, Simon, of Washington, DC; son, Erik and daughter-in-law, Nikki, of Houston; daughter, Annelise of Austin; and daughter, Neysa of Austin. He is also survived by grandchildren: Piper, Kyndslie, Lucas, and Evangeline, as well as niece, Jennifer Quong of McKinney and nephew Daniel Harrison of Dallas, their spouses and children. Special thanks to his friends Greg Orcutt, Tama and Wayman Chunn, Maritia Moser, and Margaret Paul, who provided much care and support to Larry during his illness.
A visitation will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2022 at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham, 7809 Shadyvilla Lane in Houston, Texas.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 25, 2022, also at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham.
