Jorge & Inela Carcamo's Obituary
Jorge Raul Cárcamo Bravo de Rueda was born in Lima, Perú, on March 18, 1938. He, his two sisters, and a brother were raised by a very loving, gentle mom and an equally loving, but strict dad. He learned quite early to be independent and truly enjoyed his solo vacation time at their ranch. His great intelligence and studiousness were traits that allowed him to succeed throughout his whole life. As an engineer, he was fascinated by the wealth of natural resources in Perú and strove to attract foreign investors to develop them. His mind could understand any industry, and his charismatic personality led him to high positions in ministries and boards of directors. A very good-hearted man, he fell in love with a girl from his home neighborhood, to whom, at the age of 12, he had refused to lend his bike.
Inela Zegarra Rivera was born in Lima, Perú, on January 12, 1940. She and her two younger brothers were raised by truly loving parents. As a smart and fun city girl, she and her school friends shared their life’s journeys, remaining close, lifelong friends. Her youth was filled with laughter, dancing, vacationing at the beach house, and strong family ties. These molded her into a self-determined, young woman able to achieve whatever she wanted. Her heart was not hardened by the trials she faced as a young woman, and her emotional intelligence equipped her to love, no matter what.
Their paths once again converged; Jorge and Inela married in the Catholic Church. They had three daughters to whom they truly gave their best. Inela joyfully dedicated her life to her family. Jorge provided for the family and sent his children to the best schools and universities. They were a happy couple who filled their home with love and laughter. It was their upbringing, with strong family ties, that formed the values that they each brought into the marriage. Their shared high expectations guided them in forming our beautiful family.
Following the example of their own parents, they too provided loving and attentive care for their sick parents until their last breath. Carmelita, Inela’s mom, came to live in their home and was cared for there for five years before she naturally passed.
Their daughter, Mariella, and Cesar Augusto gave them the joy of three grandchildren, Augusto, Valeria, and Daniella, whom they loved dearly, as only grandparents do.
Their Catholic Faith grew stronger through many of life’s setbacks. In 2015, they relocated from Peru to Houston, Texas, as US residents. They lived for the next 8 years with Liliana (daughter) and Robert Edwards (son-in-law), and together, they continued their journey with Christ in the Catholic Faith. Their doggies, Philipo and Angie, brought them much joy.
In 2023, they relocated to Miami and lived with Claudia (daughter) and Paul (son-in-law) until Inela was moved to assisted living at Seasons Gardens in Miami. They received the Eucharist every week, to the end of their lives. After 59 years of Holy Marriage and faithful reception of the Sacraments of the Church, they passed away. Inela died on January 7, 2026, with Liliana at her side. Jorge died on January 9, 2026, in Claudia’s home.
Inela is also survived by her brother, Jorge Zegarra. Jorge is also survived by his sister Ana Cárcamo.
