James "Jimmy" W. Williams' Obituary
James “Jimmy” Warren Williams passed away peacefully into the arms of Our Lord on Thursday morning, October 23, 2025 at his home at the age of 81.
He was born at Heights Hospital in Houston, Texas to Henry Marcus Williams and Annie Lou Moore. He was the youngest of nine children.
He attended elementary school and Hogg Junior High School in the Heights. The family moved across town where he graduated from Jesse H Jones High School. He graduated from the Houston Police Academy in November of 1965 and served the City of Houston as a police officer for 38 years. After retiring in May 2004, he looked forward to the Houston Police Retired Officers Association meetings. Jimmy will be remembered most for the courage and tenacity he showed while facing three illnesses simultaneously. He enjoyed all sports and especially loved baseball with the Colt 45s aka the Houston Astros on the top of his list. He often reminisced about being a kid playing baseball in the street with the neighborhood kids. He loved playing golf and played on softball teams with fellow police officers. He bowled in several leagues, enjoyed playing cards and working crossword puzzles. Jimmy enjoyed attending various sporting events and other activities his children and grandchildren participated in all over Texas and beyond.
Jimmy is survived by his children, James David Williams and Kellie Renee Fitzgerald; his grandchildren, Caitlin Alvarado (Zachary), Makenna Williams, Zachary Williams, Brandon Williams, and Alyssa Fitzgerald, great-granddaughter Aubrey Alvarado, and many nieces and nephews.
Jimmy is also survived by his wife of 26 years, Rosemary, and her daughters Angela Jelderks (Mike) and Natalie Bomar (Chase) and grandchildren, Emily and Garrett Jelderks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings, Lila Geraldine Colwell, Hamilton T “Jack” Williams, Opal Olszewski, Doris Williams, Mary Ruth Ellis, Annie Blackwell, Emmett Ralph “ER” Williams, Robert Williams and mother of his children Dottie K Williams.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Zachary Alvarado, Kerry Daniels, Michael Jelderks, Brent Sweatt, Brandon Williams and Zachary Williams.
Honorary pallbearers are John Sweatt, Marc Adams and Matt Potell along with his fellow police officers of the Accident and Hit & Run Divisions of the Houston Police Department.
Services will be held Monday, November 3, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church located at 11507 Huffmeister Rd, Houston TX 77065. Family and friends are welcome beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow at Grand View Cemetery, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena TX 77505.
