Darrell Donaldson's Obituary
Darrell C. Donaldson, Jr. passed away on September 22, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in Austin, Texas, to Darrell Sr. and George Ann, he lived a life marked by humor, adventure, and devotion to family.
Darrell graduated from North Texas State University in 1968 while working nights at Dow Chemical, married Nancy Roseland the same year, and served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He later founded Hot Shot Delivery, growing it into one of Houston’s largest courier services.
He loved the outdoors—hunting, fishing, skiing, and boating—and was known for his quick wit, curiosity, and larger-than-life stories. Above all, he cherished his family.
He is survived by his children Eric (Danielle), Mark (Linden), and Melissa (Jeff Fantuzzo); grandchildren Liliana, Charlotte, Samantha, Emily, and Adam; and sister Paula. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 5308 Rutgers Ave., West University, with a reception to follow at Ragin’ Cajun on Richmond. Friends are encouraged to wear fishing shirts or beach attire in celebration of his life.
In lieu of flowers, please meet a stranger, make a friend, and do something kind. Donations in his memory may be made to the Texas DPS Foundation, Brazosport High School Education Foundation, or Take a Kid Fishing.
