Cheryl Renee Lero's Obituary
Cheryl Renee Lero, age 65, of Houston departed this life on April 20, 2026 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on April 6, 1961 to Fred and Patricia Gorski Lero. Born and raised Catholic, she attended St. Theresa Catholic School through the 8th grade and was a 1979 graduate of St. Pius X High School.
Cheryl graduated from the University of Houston in 1993 with a BS degree in Psychology. She recently retired from Air Liquide after 44 years of loyal service in their legal department.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, Fred Lero, her paternal grandparents Louis and Ima Belle Caraway Lero, and her maternal grandparents Ike and Louise Philips Gorski. She is survived by her daughter Payton Archer, her mother Patricia Lero, sister Michele Lero James (Guy), nieces Laura Beth James, Kate James Hermes (Blake), Leighton James Hathaway (Patrick) and sons Logan and Elliott, and nephew Freeman James (Korey).
Cheryl will be remembered as a loyal friend and a devoted mother. She loved to fish, was an avid Astros fan, and above all she poured her life into any activity involving her daughter Payton, including Special Olympics swimming, raising and exhibiting animal projects in FFA, and traveling the world together. She was a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.
Services will be at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Memorial Park on Monday April 27th with visitation beginning at 9 am, recitation of the Holy Rosary at 9:45 am and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. Graveside services will be at 1 pm at Forest Park Lawndale with reception following in the Fellowship Hall at St. Theresa Catholic Church.
