Bernadette Emmeline Castellanes Cais' Obituary
Bernadette Emmeline Castellanes Cais, born to Maria Ledesma Castellanes and Guido Castellanes, Sr. in Calatrava, Negros Occidental, Philippines on February 13, 1948, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025 in Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Lourdes Castellanes Babao, and her husband, Percival Martinez Cais, to whom she was married for 50 years.
She is survived by her children Christopher Cais and his partner Karen Cais; Emmeline Cais and her partner Jonathan Sklute; grandchildren Chloe Cais, Eloise Cais, Eden Jane Sklute and Nora Sklute; and siblings Guido Castellanes, Jr., Yvonne Castellanes, Gladys Castellanes Andrada and Janice Castellanes Blanco.
Bernadette graduated from Colegio de Santa Rita and would later receive a Bachelor of Science from the University of San Augustin. She had a nearly 50 year career as a medical technologist and had a passion for dancing, particularly ballroom and Zumba. She also loved to travel, spend quality time with her grandchildren, and feed her friends and family with her famous bibingka malagkit.
A celebration of life for Bernadette will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc Dr, Houston, TX 77024, with visitation from 9:15 AM to 10:20 AM, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM.
