Ashley Garay's Obituary
Houston, Texas, resident Ashley Garay, 15, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Ashley was born on October 31, 2009, in Houston, TX. She received her education in Houston and was very proud of herself for getting ahead of her credits and classes. She was also very proud of the ribbons that she had won while competing in track.
Ashley was very mature for her age, but never let go of her playful innocence. She never cared what anyone thought of her and followed her heart through and through. Even in her last six months battling cancer, she felt the best medicine there was was humor. She was always very positive and determined; she never gave up on anything, even before her real fight began. She could be bossy at times, but always had a great sense of humor, even if sometimes it was a dark sense of humor. She believed in fairness and honesty, she never liked injustices, and would stand up for anyone. She was kind and strong even in her last breath.
Ashley touched anyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a special place in her heart for all of the nurses and doctors who showed her love, and especially her doctor, “Dr. Brown.”
Ashley deeply valued her family, her best friend Alinne and her dog Athena. She was very close to her mother, always seeking her advice and opinion, and would ask her siblings if her mother was upset at the time.
She would do her little vlogs, enjoyed doing her makeup, loved fall, and was a Halloween fanatic. She loved anything Hello Kitty- or Chucky-related, enjoyed school sports, and was on her way to joining her school’s dance team. She was also a major foodie and a shopaholic, and anyone who knew her knew she loved a good gossip.
“I would give my life to switch places with you.” “No, this is my fight, not yours, just don’t let go.” – Ashley’s last words of wisdom to her mother.
A viewing and visitation for Ashley will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 am on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Covenant Church, 4949 Caroline Street, Houston, Texas, followed by a reception in Huff Hall.
