Angel Frank Duran, Jr.'s Obituary
Angel Frank Duran, Jr., lovingly known as Frank, of Richmond, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on June 28, 2025, surrounded by his devoted family. He fought a brave battle with Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) liver cancer, demonstrating strength and grace throughout.
A proud native Texan, Frank was born on July 24, 1953, in Houston to Angel Frank Duran Sr. and Mary Jane Duran (Gonzales). He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mary Jane, and his wife of 28 years, Victoria. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Hanlon Duran; his children, Nicholas Duran and wife Rachel, and Maximus Duran; his cherished grandchildren, Leah Duran and Ryan Arredondo; his father, Angel F. Duran Sr.; his brother, Arthur Duran and wife Lupe; and sisters Monica Jordan, and Marisa Duran and husband Edward Ochoa along with numerous extended family members.
Frank proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps before graduating from Waltrip High School, even returning from boot camp to take senior pictures for his mother. He served his country honorably in Vietnam and, upon his return, built a successful 30 year career with AT&T, where he was known for his precision, dedication, and the many lifelong friendships he forged.
Frank found joy in life’s adventures like riding his Harley, fishing from his boat, and exploring the world. One of his fondest memories was marrying his wife Mary in Italy, a testament to the love and experiences they shared together. True to his Duran roots, Frank had a distinctive taste for spicy sour pickles, peppers, and his favorite lemon banana pudding.
A funeral service to celebrate Frank’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 5653 W. Riverpark Dr., Sugar Land, TX 77479, with a reception to follow. The Rite of Committal will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Nicholas Duran, Matthew McKeever, Paul Smith III, Christopher Lovelace, Gary Ballone, and Billy Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers are Maximus Duran, Ryan Arredondo.
Frank’s legacy of service, strength, and love lives on in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
